A few years ago, the wise people of Liverpool decided to change the name of their airport from the decidedly drab Speke airport to a name with far more international appeal. So naming it after their most famous son, Liverpool John Lennon Airport was born.
The airport located just 7 miles from the city of Liverpool now has international quality facilities including a large selection of popular shops such as BO Shoes, Boots, Dorothy Perkins, GameGrid, Impressions of Liverpool, Spar and WH Smith's.
There is an Executive Lounge located at the airport that provides plug in points for laptops, office desks and good phone facilities, as well as the usual array of hot and cold drinks and snacks as well as newspapers and magazines and a flat screen TV.
There is a good selection of food possibilities at the airport including the chain Burger King, Caffe Ritazza, Go Pizza, a Wetherspoon's Pub, O'Briens Irish Sandwich Bar, Subway and the Food Village.
The postcode for the airport is L24 8QD, for those approaching from the eastern side of Liverpool from cities such as Leeds and Manchester follow the M62 to junction 6, the airport is then located just off the A561.
Travelling from the Midlands passengers should use the M6 which passes very close to the airport. From Liverpool city centre the A5036 should be taken to the A561 which passes by the airport.
Liverpool John Lennon Airport car parking facilities are plentiful for short stay users. Liverpool airport parking for long-term users offers limited parking bays.
Many destinations are now available from the International airport including many regional UK airports as well as European destinations such as Spain, Greece, Turkey, and Holland.
In a recent deal, the airport will become home to Dutch airline KLM that for the first time will connect Liverpool John Lennon Airport with destinations across the globe.
With Liverpool nearby there are many choices of accommodation in all price ranges including the Britannia Adelphi and the Liverpool Marriott Hotel.
